Psychology Student Conference

Event information
Venue:GC Ballrooms

The Psychology Student Conference will be held on Tuesday, October 25th 2016 in the GC Ballrooms from 9am-4pm. The psychology research forum is scheduled directly after the student conference from 4:30pm-7:30pm.

The student conference delivers informative sessions throughout the day which exposes students to career resources, employment and internship opportunities. For example, students can acquire resume building knowledge and connect with potential employers that traditionally hire students in from the field of psychology. Another facet of the conference encourages students to begin planning for graduate school. These sessions typically cover the necessary key areas such as graduate admission requirements, and goal setting as an undergrad in order to successfully transition into a graduate program. Students also have the opportunity to get involved in research by attending sessions that showcase research being conducted by psychology faculty. The research workshops allow lab managers and directors to actively recruit students who are interested in research to work in labs on campus thereby allowing for a mentorship opportunity between faculty and students. It also allows faculty to mentor students assigned to a lab. Although the conference program involves a variety of topics throughout the day, the theme of the conference each year answers the question: “What can I do with a bachelor’s degree in psychology?” Click Here to view Conference Program.

EXTRA CREDIT: If your professor decided to give extra credit for attending the conference, once you check into the conference with your FIU Panther Card, we can collect data on your attendance to send to your professor. Students must attend at least one 40 minute session to earn extra credit.
